When we work with e-commerce websites, especially when we work on WordPress websites with e-commerce. Then we often need to take partial payment or deposit or delivery charge for the product in advance. There are some WordPress plugins with which we can easily solve this problem.
Today we will see how to charge a deposit or advance delivery charge on an e-commerce website in wordpress.
Step 1: Plugin installation:
From your wordpress dashboard, go to
- Plugins > Add new Plugin
- Search for: WooCommerce Deposits and Partial Payments
- Before install and activation, make sure you have installed and activated the woocommerce plugin.

Step 2: Configure the plugin:
After install and activation, you need to configure the plugin and you can also change some text as you want. To configure, from the wordpress dashboard go to Desosits and select options as you want.
Explanation:
- In the General Settings, enable deposits to enable it in the product purchase option.
- In deposit type select fixed amount for all product or select any percentage for all products
- You can select the default payment option as partial/ deposit and full payment also.
- You can enable or disable the payment method for deposit payment.
- Save the changes.
- In the Labels & Text menu, you can change the text for deposit, order and checkout page.
- Save the changes again and you can see the result in the single product page as shown in the below image.
Step 3: Setup deposit for each product:
From your wordpress dashboard, go to Products > All Products > Edit. You can add a new product if there is no product in your list. You can set different deposit types for each product.
Once you choose your options, update the product and reload the single product page for output.
By using this plugin, you can collect a deposit, advance amount, partial payment or delivery charge for your ecommerce shop. There are some more plugins available for the same feature with free and premium paid versions.
